The Chequer Inn
The Chequer Inn

Release Date: 25 Feb 2010

A Kent pub has smashed its fundraising target for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research after a packed year of charity events. When the Chequer Inn in Ash re-opened in November 2008, staff and customers nominated Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research as its Charity of the Year and an initial target of £1,500 was set.

Richard Munden, licensee at the pub, said: “Throughout the year we have done everything to raise funds for this worthy cause - from sweepstakes to headshaves, weekly card bingo to race nights. We’ve also held a number of raffles, filled a bucket full of cooper coinage and even held a charity car wash.”

“When I set the target of £1,500, I thought it was going to be hard work in achieving it, but with the generous nature of our customers and the staff always up for a laugh, we smashed our target with ease - raising a fantastic £2562.88.”

The pub held a charity party night in January to celebrate this achievement. For more information regarding The Chequer Inn’s charity fundraising efforts or any of its activities, clubs and events please contact Richard on 01304 813918 or visit www.thechequerinnash.co.uk.
