The Calendar Girls

Everyone knows the story: a group of extraordinary women, members of a very ordinary Yorkshire Women’s Institute (WI) group, persuade one another to pose for a charity calendar with a difference.

The Calendar Girls, as they became to be known, dedicated the calendar to John Baker who had died the previous year in 1998. They had no idea of the media sensation they would create.

Many other fundraising groups have since replicated the calendar idea across the globe with many themes. Now on sale, the 2010 calendar features all new images of the original Girls.

Angela Baker says: “We're constantly amazed at the response we still get to the calendar. I’m delighted to say we have raised over £1.5 million for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research and now we have a fantastic Stage show sharing our story!
John would be tremendously honoured to know that we have achieved so much in his name."
